Tournaments are a great way to test what you’ve been learning in class. If you are focused on self-defense, tournaments give you the opportunity to test your skills and reactions under pressure. If you are interested in sport Jiu-Jitsu, then you have the opportunity to compete against other grapplers from all across the country and even world.
Gi and no-gi divisions are available at most tournaments. You’ll sign up for your divisions based on weight and skill level, so you’ll be paired against someone who is at an appropriate size and level for you. You can also compete in absolute divisions, which allow you to benefit from Jiu-Jitsu’s mantra that small can beat big with the right technique.
Many grapplers from WNY Mixed Martial Arts & Fitness compete in tournaments, and we often organize carpools to events. Check out these upcoming tournaments and then let us know if you’re competing!
