Boxing is a combat sport in which two participants, generally of similar weight, fights using only their fists to strike. It is a stand-up form of fighting that focuses on scientifically using one's body to properly defend as well as execute strikes.
In the sport of boxing there are primarily 3 ways to win; if the opponent is knocked out (KO'ed) and unable to get up before the referee counts to ten seconds, if the opponent is deemed to injured to continue (a technical knockout, or TKO) or if the pre-determined number of rounds expires before a KO or TKO, then judges will render a decision.
Although fighting with fists come naturally to people, evidence of fist-fighting contests first appear on ancient Sumerian, Egyptian and Minoan reliefs. The ancient Greeks provide us our first historical records of boxing as a formal sport; they codified a set of rules and staged tournaments with professionals. The birth hour of boxing as a sport may be its acceptance as an Olympic game as early as 688 BC. Modern boxing evolved in Europe. Today, there are numerous styles of boxing practiced throughout the world.
Kickboxing
refers to the sport of combining the grace and style of boxing with kicking. Kickboxing is a standing sport and does not allow continuation of the fight once a combatant has reached the ground.
Kickboxing, like boxing, is often practiced for self-defense, general fitness, or as a full-contact sport.
Kickboxing started becoming more popular in America in the early 70's. Between 1970 and 1973 (in federation PKA) a handful of kickboxing promotions were staged across the USA. In the early days the rules were never clear, one of the first tournaments held had no weight divisions and all competitors fought until one was left. At the time there was no infrastructure, no set format of rules. This was until the formation of the World Kickboxing Association (WKA). They were the first organized body of martial arts on a global scale to sanction fights, create ranking systems, and institute a development program. Today, the International Kickboxing Federation (IKF) is the most active kickboxing sanctioning body in N. America.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (aka Gracie Jiu-Jitsu) is a martial art and combat sport and a form of self-defense that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. It was derived from the Japanese martial art and Kodokan Judo in the early 20th century, which was itself then a recently developed system (founded in 1882), based on multiple school (or Ryu) of Japanese Jujutsu.
It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger assailant using leverage and proper technique; most notably by applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat them. Jiu-Jitsu can be trained for sport grappling matches, mixed martial arts (MMA) competition or self-defense. Sparring (commonly referred to as 'rolling') and live drilling play a major role in training.
One of the major differences between our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the Submission Wrestling class is the use of the Gi (traditional uniform worn in class). The Gi is meant replicate clothing worn by someone in a street situation. In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu we can use the gi as a weapon to control and submit our opponent in a variety of different ways. Due to the friction the gi creates, the game is generally a bit slower and more controlled and requires greater technique to escape bad positions and submission holds because you can't simply rely on being able to slip out with the help of sweat. It is also more realistic for self-defense due to the fact that you will learn how to properly use clothing to help finish a fight.

Wrestling is an ancient martial art that uses grappling type techniques such as clinch fighting, throws and takedowns, joint locks, pins and other grappling holds. A wrestling bout is a physical competition, between two (occasionally more) competitors or sparing partners, who attempt to gain and maintain a superior position. There are a wide range of styles with varying rules with both traditional historic and modern styles. Wrestling techniques have been incorporated into other martial arts as well as military hand-to-hand combat systems.

Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full
contact combat sport that allows a wide variety of fighting techniques
and skills, from a mixture of martial arts traditions and
non-traditions, to be used in competitions. The rules allow the use of
both striking as well as grappling techniques, both while standing and
on the ground. Such competitions allow martial artists of different
backgrounds to compete.
The roots of modern mixed martial arts can be traced back to various
mixed style contests that took place throughout Europe, Japan and the
Pacific Rim during the early 1900s. The combat sport of Vale Tudo that
had developed in Brazil from the 1920s was brought to the United states
by the Gracie family in 1993 with the founding of the Ultimate Fighting
Championship. Professional MMA events had also been held in Japan by
Shooto starting back in 1989. In due course the more dangerous Vale Tudo
style bouts of the early UFC's were made safer with the implementation
of additional rules, leading to the popular regulated form of MMA seen
today. Originally promoted as a competition with the intention of
finding the most effective martial arts for real unarmed combat
situations, competitors were pitted against one another with minimal
rules.[1] Later promoters adopted many additional rules aimed at
increasing safety for competitors and to promote mainstream acceptance
of the sport.

And......
HAVE FUN!!!
If you're reading this webpage, then I assume it safe to say that these
are attributes you'd like your child to have. As a parent myself I know
how hard these things are to instill in children. I can guarantee you
martial arts is one of the best, if not THE BEST way to reach these
goals. Did you know that Martial Arts is 10x better than Team Sports in developing a child's self-esteem and confidence? It's true, and the earlier your child starts developing these traits, the better.
In our kids program, we allow each child to progress at their own pace.
We realize all kids are unique and learn differently from one another.
However, I have learned that all kids LOVE GAMES! Part of our
curriculum is to play games with the children that is directly related
BJJ & Kickboxing. These games make learning fun and ultimately,
keep the child interested in the class and progressing. Going to class
becomes something you can leverage with because they WANT to be there.
"Finish your homework and we can go to Jiu-Jitsu", will be met with an
"Okay, Mom!!"
In our programs, we don't just teach children to punch and kick as you
will find at many other schools, rather we work to help build your
child's character. You will instantly notice the difference in your child's focus, energy, self-esteem, etc.
Your child will be learning how to effectively handle themselves both
physically and mentally, so he or she can build the strength necessary
to resist peer pressure and deal with all the other negative things that
come their way.
But, don't take my word for it..... Stop By And Find Out For Yourselves!!!
